Solo Music and The Thermal Detonators

Jordan Mayland and The Thermal Detonators started up around 2008 after Keepers of the Carpet had pretty much disbanded for the time being. The first EP started after I had a session where Pat and Tom Hummer had engineered a song (“North Carolina”) and after the session offered their time and home studio space and invited me to record more material there. I had some country-esque songs and with the help of Becca Smith, we arranged strings for the majority of them together. While I played all of the other instrumentation on the EP, Becca recorded all of the string parts. Joe Terry also plays trumpet on one song as well as Erik Johnson adding saxophone. I was so lucky to have such talented and devoted people around me. Though the intention of The Thermal Detonators was to be a solo endeavor, a few interested friends wanted to jump in on the live experience and we started playing shows around 2012. We had the great honor of sharing the stage with the legendary band The Zombies at Maximum Ames Music Festival 2013. The group was made up of myself on Guitars/Keys as well as Frank McBroom: Bass/Vox, Claire Kruesel: Glockenspeil/Vox, Paul Hertz: Piano/Keyboards/Trombone/Vox, Sean Huston: Guitars/Vox, David Atchison: Drums.

The one and only full band Jordan Mayland and The Thermal Detonators album, “This Mess,” was released in late 2016 on Nova Labs. All albums and music can be purchased or listened to HERE or streaming on your favorite streaming source!
